Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, Doesn't have a swelled head, Doesn't force itself on others, Isn't always "me first," Doesn't fly off the handle, Doesn't keep score of the sins of others, Doesn't revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.

matt 5:48"In a word, what I'm saying is, Grow up. You're kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you."
This poem was written by Francis Drake. He was England's most famous sailor and explorer, he sailed around the world in the ship - 'The Golden Hind' in 1580 and led the outnumbered British Navy to defeat the Spanish Armada in 1588. This prayer was found in his ship's diary, written on the eve of one of his great adventures:
Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves, When our dreams have come true Because we dreamed too little, Because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when With the abundance of things we possess We have lost our thirst For the waters of life; Having fallen in love with life, We have ceased to dream of eternity And in our efforts to build a new earth, We have allowed our vision Of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, To venture on wilder seas Where storm will show Your mastery; Where losing sight of land, We shall find the stars. We ask You to push back The horizons of our hopes; And to push us in the future In strength, courage, hope, and love. This we ask in the name of our Captain, who is Jesus Christ. Amen.
hello everybody! thought that this would be a good reminder, something to chew on.. the excerpt Ps Khong shared a few weeks back:
A program of prayer without faith is powerless. The missing element that is necessary to energize prevailing prayer that binds and casts out statn is triumphant faith. And the missing element that is necessary to energize triumphant faith is praise, perpeptual, purposeful and agressive praise. Praise is the highest form of pryaer, because it combines, petition with faith. Praise is the spark plug of faith. It is the one thing needed to get faith airborne, enabling it to soar above the deadly miasma of doubt. Praise is the decision that glorifies faith and purges doubt from the heart. The secret of answered prayer is faith without doubt and the secret of faith without doubt is praise, triumphant praise, continuous praise, praise that is a way of life. This is the solution to the problem of living praise and sucessful prayer.
Today, I gave blood. Hahaha... it was a rather long wait, and a rather hilarious situation.
The wait, though long, was made more bearable with Rashidah and her friend Amy. We just chatted the long wait away.. then it was giving blood time. The HSA staff that attended to us were really nice and helpful.. but after seeing people feeling faint and all that, I kinda felt scared. So what did I do?
I prayed.
I asked God to watch over me. To let my blood be useful, that it can be used to save lives. And that I'd be able to not grow faint, but to be strong because my God is within me.
And the Lord answers prayers.
The nurses were nice, accommodating and helpful. The blood donation went well with minimal pain. And I started singing worship songs. In came "Still". In came "Thank You for the Cross". And surprisingly, my blood transfusion slowed down towards the end... It was getting slower and slower, and where other people were done, and even my friend who felt faint was able to walk.. I was still sitting there with a needle in my arm! Haha.. I didn't think too much about it then. So, they kinda cut short my transfusion with a little bit to go. And then I was sitting there with a yellow bandage on my arm where the needle was... with bumblebees! Went to the reception counter, immediately brough laughter to the volunteers there, helped distribute biscuits, and made friends with this Vietnamese girl I think called Summer.
So as I left and came home, I slept for close to 3 hours cause it is rather draining. And well, I managed to complete my revision for Stats by doing 3 tutorials! Normally I do one tutorial in the time that I took to complete 3... the Lord is awesome!
And when I think about the transfusion. I realise that "Hey! The Lord could have reduced my blood flow so that I wouldn't get dizzy!"
READ: 1 John 3:1-9 “ Beloved, now we are children of God. —1 John 3:2 ”
The story is told that the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860) was sauntering through Berlin’s famous Tiergarden one day, mentally probing the questions of origin and destiny that had been constantly perplexing him: Who am I? Where am I going?
A park-keeper, closely observing the shabbily dressed philosopher as he walked slowly with head bowed, suspected that Schopenhauer was a tramp. So he walked up to the philosopher and demanded, “Who are you? Where are you going?” With a pained expression, Schopenhauer replied, “I don’t know. I wish somebody could tell me.”
Are you ever perplexed by those same questions? Who am I? Where am I going? What a comfort it is to have God’s authoritative answers in the Bible. Who are we? In 1 John 3, John calls his readers “children of God” (v.2). We become His children by receiving Jesus as our Savior from sin (John 1:12). And where are we going? John 14:1-6 tells us that one day He will receive us into a home He is preparing in heaven.
Our Maker is not only the Author of science and history, but He writes the story of every member of Adam’s family—yours and mine. We can trust His answers. — Vernon C. Grounds
Open my ears, that I may hear Voices of truth Thou sendest clear; And while the wave-notes fall on my ear, Everything false will disappear. —Scott
When you know Jesus, you know who you are and where you’re going.

Lectures this semester are really really interesting!! I enjoy my EL mods, and even my Soci of Tourism! Well, Stats is also interesting, but seriously.. my arts mods are so interesting, that I not only stay awake in lessons easily, but I also find myself in deep thought about what has been taught. It's really amazing how God also places Himself in my lectures.
At EL3254 Lecture... "Who can have a complete and unrefracted capture of the world? Well... only I guess only God can."
At EL3204 Lecture... "Insult-Insult can be an adjacency pair. But what about Insult-Compliment? Then we can all be like Jesus and turn our other cheek to be slapped too."
How apt that even in lectures, the sovereign Lord drops in little nuggets of reminders of who He is, and how omnipresent He is. =)
Dennis Cramer: The Word of the Lord for 2009: "STILL" by Dennis Cramer Jan 9, 2009
Greetings!
Yearly predictions can be a very touchy subject. Yet the Lord has given me a "word" for you to consider. I personally believe it's a pretty accurate word.
The word of the Lord for 2009 is "STILL." That's all - just the word "STILL.." However, as you will read, it's a very, very powerful word. It is a "now" word that will empower you throughout 2009 and beyond!
I personally guarantee each and every one of these "predictions" for 2009! I predict that:
1. The Bible will STILL be the eternal Word of God - forever settled in Heaven!
2. Prayer will STILL always work!
3. The Father will STILL be sitting confidently on His indomitable throne!
4. Jesus will STILL be the Way, the Truth, and the Life - the only means by which you may access the Father!
5. The Holy Spirit will STILL be our Comforter - comforting you from the inside, out!
6. The Church will STILL be "the pillar and ground of the truth" manifesting the wisdom of God!
7. Healing (for spirit, soul, and body) will STILL be in His wings!
8. The Gospel will STILL be the answer - whatever the question!
9. His grace will STILL be all-sufficient and our strength, whatever the task!
10. The gifts of the Spirit will STILL change lives - instantly, radically, and permanently!
11. You will STILL be God's most prized possession - His cherished son or daughter!
12. Heaven will STILL be wonderful, hell will STILL be horrible!
13. "By faith" will STILL be the only way for you to live.
14. You will STILL be "more than a conqueror in Christ" - victory is imminent!
15. Sowing will STILL result in reaping! So keep sowing!
16. God will STILL "always cause you to triumph in Christ!"
17. The love of God will STILL be in your heart - and nothing can separate you from it!
18. "All things will STILL work together for your good" - as you do His will!
19. You will STILL "be the head and not the tail" - blessed when you go out, blessed when you come in!
20. The devil will still, still, STILL, be a big-time loser!
It is hours before cluster cell and I wanted to meet up with Abba before I go for cell. It's been a challenging week emotionally. Many things I wanted to happen did not happen, yet among which, there were many good things that I did not ask Pa for. Confused, disappointed and uncertain.
I came before the Lord with a heavy heart that wouldn't sing of His praises. In the face of circumstances, the heart simply couldn't sing. I went on my knees and wondered how could I praise the Lord. I did not want to open the Bible for I didn't know what to read. I took the guitar and started strumming random tunes. I don't know how to play but I really wanted to make music unto Him.
I asked God to help me repair my heart so that I could connect with Him.
I felt led to search for an old songsheet and knew that I would find a song to sing to Pa. I found one and started singing "With All I Am." God suddenly came alive to me as I sang it over and over until my mind was renewed by the truth of God.
Jesus I believe in You Jesus I belong to You You're the reason that I live The reason that I sing With all I am
Abba Father God is the reason why I can sing. Jesus is the reason why I live and it is not a half hearted singing or living - it is with ALL I AM.
What a revelation for a mind that was stuck in the present, unable to look beyond the situations and the chains that so bind me to reality or rather, false reality.
With a mind renewed, God led me to 2 Tim 4:7-8 7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
the good fight - the reality is - it will not be easy. It doesn't mean because I am a Christian, I wouldn't face the problems of all mankind. It doesn't mean I would get ALL I want because what I want might not be what God wants for me.
This is what Paula Rinehart has to say: ... God can help us and strengthen us, but He never promised to keep us from pain. "Our Father refreshes us with some pleasant inns on the journey, but [he] will us encourage us to mistake them for home," wrote CS Lewis. No matter what the song says, heaven is not a place on earth.
Perhaps disappointed dreams are our best opportunities to transfer hope to its rightful place. Heaven is where our biggest dreams belong. Realizing that can help us make it through the here and now without placing a burden on the present that it was never meant to bear.
*** So examine your life and ask where does your hope lie? How shaken would you be if the present changed? To whom would you run to, depend on and trust to make it all right?
I'm glad Abba sorted that out with me and set me right.
